About Katie

Therapy that feels like a place to be yourself.

I'm Katie Camus, LCSW, LSSW. I work with preteens, teens, and adults who are navigating anxiety, ADHD, mood concerns, family changes, grief, school stress, and the many transitions that can make life feel harder than it should.

My approach

Practical tools. Real conversations. Room to be human.

I believe therapy works best when it connects to real life. We can talk about what is happening, understand the patterns underneath it, and build skills you can actually use outside the therapy room.

Meet you where you are

There is no one right way to do therapy. I adapt sessions to the person's age, needs, personality, and goals rather than forcing everyone into the same format.

Make therapy practical

We focus on strategies that fit everyday life—school stress, friendships, routines, parenting, relationships, emotional regulation, and the situations that keep showing up.

Use more than talk

When it fits the client, therapy can include movement, walk-and-talk sessions, sports-based activities, mindfulness, grounding, and other experiential approaches.

Who I work with

Support for different ages and different seasons of life.

Preteens & Teens

Support for ADHD, anxiety, school concerns, friendships, self-esteem, grief, family changes, behavioral concerns, trauma, and the pressure that can come with school and activities.

Young Adults & Adults

Support for anxiety, depression, life transitions, parenting, postpartum concerns, stress, grief, and the challenge of balancing your own needs with everyone else's.

Parents & Families

Help navigating parenting stress, neurodiversity, children's mental-health concerns, changing family dynamics, and the emotional work of supporting a child while taking care of yourself.

Individuals & Families

Sessions may be individual or family-based depending on the goals of treatment and what will be most helpful for the people involved.

Beyond the therapy room

A broader perspective on people, families, and systems.

My clinical work is informed by years of experience in schools, special education advocacy, and community-based family support. Those experiences shape the way I look at the whole picture around a client—not just the symptoms that bring them to therapy.

School & Special Education Experience

As a licensed school social worker in both Indiana and Illinois, I bring six years of experience working in K–12 education and advocating for students and families. My work has included supporting students with ADHD, autism, and emotional and behavioral disorders, as well as helping families and school teams navigate behavioral concerns, school challenges, special education, and the supports students need to succeed.

15+ Years of Community & Family Support

For more than 15 years, I have also led work through Mommy’s Haven, a nonprofit supporting pregnant women and mothers of young children through practical resources, parenting education, life-skills support, housing and basic needs, mentoring, and connections to community resources. That work has given me a deep understanding of the real-world circumstances that can affect mental health and family functioning.

Therapy can look different

You don't have to be great at therapy to start therapy.

Especially with kids and teens, connection matters. When sitting and talking isn't the best fit, I may incorporate movement, walk-and-talk therapy, sports-based activities, or yoga-inspired grounding techniques to help make the process feel more natural and engaging.
